I want to bring to your attention the SA-ESRF workshop and conference that representatives of the SA Synchrotron user community (SRRIC) are organising. You might be aware of SA's associate membership status at the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF) in Grenoble, France. You might also be aware that the facility is currently undergoing a Phase 2 upgrade to be completed in August 2020. In light of this, SRRIC is organizing a workshop and conference scheduled for 11 to 13 November 2019 at the University of Johannesburg Business School. The event aims to:
i) inform the SA synchrotron community of the novel scientific opportunities offered by the "new" ESRF facility.
ii) prepare SA scientists and engineers to hit the ground running in utilising the upgraded ESRF.
iii) allow the South African synchrotron user community to showcase their synchrotron or X-ray related research .
For more information see the attached or visit: http://events.saip.org.za/event/SA-ESRF2019. Abstract submission and registration is open until the 15th October. SRRIC will greatly appreciate it if you can help spread the word by distributing the announcement to your colleagues.
Hope to see you in Johannesburg and keep well.
