2003 was the first year that young scientists (aka "Learners") were invited to participate in a parallel one-day programme of physics lectures and demonstrations at the annual SAIP conference.
A short report on the day can be found here.
Here's a taste of what you missed (or taste of what you might see in Bloemfontein in 2004).
The pictures below capture the moments.
| The early birds in the exploratorium. | Now if you put this one here and this other one here... Voila! |
| Looking for inspiration? | Some future women in physics? |
| Derek Fish has the audience enchanted with his magic glass. | Robert de Mello-Koch brings up some baffling concepts |
| Now what's this Leyden Jar thingie..... The workshop conducted by iThemba LABS. | Wow! Who would have thought that you could make something so cool with a few bits of tin foil and a film cannister. |
| Listening to all those physicists sure builds up an appetite! | Rushing off to the Lectuette Competition 1 |
